We had David's family in town for about a week around the 4th of July, which was SO fun! We shopped, visited all kinds of family, and had both of our entire families over for a huge grill party!
Everyone had so much fun, and David even showed my granddad a new drink that he decided he loved!

We were all up laughing and talking WAY too late every night they were here! Jackson is 5 now, and so he's really getting to the point where he remembers us really well, and hearing him say Aunt Kacy, come play, or Uncle Da-bid (it's the cutest thing, the way he says David!), I need the 'puter (the kid is SUCH a whiz with playing on any computer, whether my Windows 7 or David's Macbook Pro; it amazes us!). He really is a super sweet kid, and we love him so much, and can't believe he starts school next week!
After David's family left, we got things back to normal for a few weeks, and then it was time for a girls trip! Bethany (my sister), my mom, and my grandmother, and I all went to Lake Norfork in Arkansas for a long weekend to stay with my aunt and have SO much fun! We played games, we talked constantly, and as with any trip where it's all women, we solved the world's problems after a few glasses of wine! Sadly, my camera batteries died the day after we got there, but I'll edit in a few days after my mom gives me some of her pictures. I was using rechargeable batteries, but they were just so old they couldn't hold any juice, so I bought a massive pack of regular batteries so I don't have to worry about that again!
We also went through Hardy, Arkansas on our way to the lake. We have always loved that town, and when Bethany, Ryan, and I were little, we would beg and plead to stop at this amazing candy shoppe they have, and now, it's more of the antique stores that catch our attention. I did stop at the candy shoppe and get David a big piece of fudge though! In one store, I did see some amazing things, and came away with 2 things. I found a wedding present for my best friend, who is getting married in March (yes, I know, I'm starting early, but I can't help myself!), and the most amazing mirror! I would tell you what the present is, but on the off chance Ali reads this post, I'll have to keep you in suspense until I give it to her at one of her many showers in a few months.
And now, the mirror. I can't tell you the thought that went through my mind when I saw it, because there really wasn't one. Even my brain was speechless! It was shoved behind a couple of other things, which I can't even remember now, because all I truly saw was the mirror. It was a long octagon shape, with beveled glass in it. I was so afraid to look at the price, but I made myself do it, and it was only $7!! I couldn't believe it! I didn't even think about where I would hang it or what I would do with it, I just knew I HAD to have it! So, we somehow stuffed them in the trunk of the car (you can imagine, with 4 women, how much stuff we had!), and I decided I would redo the frame, which was hideous, or buy a new one if I needed to. So, I got it home, and I was so excited, and David just didn't have my vision. He was so sweet about it, but the look on his face! It just said, okay, honey, I know you think it's great, but it really isn't. So, last week, I took a few days and worked on it. I can't believe how great it looks! I sanded it down some, and then painted it black. The mirror itself was in great shape, and the frame was really sturdy, just an ugly color, so I just updated, and now it hangs on the wall you see as you walk in the back door. I've gotten lots of compliments on it, and everyone seems to just love it, especially David, and I am SO completely proud of it!
Now, I'm just getting ready to go back to school and finish up my last year of nursing school, and can't wait to finally be done and have a job!
This summer, for me, has been all about spending time with my babies, and just loving life.
After I got home from the lake, she was SO excited to see me. I love that! It's the best feeling in the world! She didn't leave my side for days!
I heard a quote some time ago, I can't remember who said it, but they said, "I think, to live life, would be an awfully great adventure." This summer has been all about the adventure for me. I've had so much fun taking care of David, antiquing with friends and family, going on our cruise, staying up late and sitting outside for hours, and enjoying the time we had before I started back to school, and have no life again. So, I raise my glass (as it's been all summer) to a wonderful time full of family, friends, and tons of fun!
